You've booked the venue, finalised the lehenga, and tasted about forty types of mithai. But when it comes to bridal makeup, even the most prepared brides sometimes get tripped up by mistakes that are completely avoidable.
Here are five we see most often.
1. Skipping the skin prep
No makeup — however premium — looks good on unprepared skin. Start a basic skincare routine at least six to eight weeks before the wedding. Moisturiser, SPF, and gentle exfoliation make a bigger difference than any product in an artist's kit.
2. Not doing a trial
A trial isn't optional — it's where we figure out what actually works on your face, in your lighting, with your outfit. One session a few weeks before the wedding gives us time to adjust. Day-of surprises are nobody's friend.
3. Choosing a foundation shade for photographs, not for real life
Pale foundations that look great on camera can make you look washed out in person — especially under warm ceremony lighting. Trust your artist to find the shade that works across both.
4. Not communicating clearly
Bring reference images. Tell us what you like, what you don't, and what you're worried about. The more we know before we start, the better the result. Vague briefs lead to guesswork, and guesswork leads to last-minute adjustments nobody wanted.
5. Rushing the morning schedule
Bridal makeup, especially for multiple ceremonies, takes time. Block out two to three hours on the morning itself. If you're running late before we even start, everything downstream gets compressed — and that affects the final look more than any product choice does.
Booking early and planning carefully takes the pressure off. If you have questions before your booking, feel free to reach out.
